Girls High School Volleyball–

Pontiac lost to Tolono Unity in 3 sets;  26-28, 25-16 & 19-25.  They are now 9 & 11 on the season.  The JV squad lost in 2 sets to fall to 11 & 4.

Major League Baseball–

Pittsburgh Pirates 6 Chicago Cubs 0

The Cubs managed only 5 hits and lose for the 2nd straight night.  Chicago’s lead in the National League Central division is down to a 1/2 game.  Their magic number remains at 5.  The Cubs host the Pirates again tonight.

Milwaukee Brewers 12 St. Louis Cardinals 4

The Brewers banged out 15 hits and roughed up Cards starter Austin Gomber. The Cards are 1/2 game out of the NL wild card race after Colorado won.   The Redbirds will host the Brewers again tonight.

Chicago White Sox 5 Cleveland Indians 4

The Sox scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th to get the win.  The two teams will play again tonight.

NFL Football-

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have yet to name their starting quarterback for this Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.  James Winston is coming off suspension, and Ryan Fitzpatrick has played well as his replacement.

High School Football

In the latest High scool football rankings, Pontiac is listed just out of the Top 10 in Class 4A.  The Indians visit Olympia Friday night.
