PONTIAC – The Livingston County Fair is right around the corner and the Livingston Farm Bureau is encouraging residents to come out and support local businesses and agriculture.

Farm Bureau Manager Jody Hughes explained the county fair has an abundance of activities and events for people to enjoy. She said she looks forward to the fair every year.

“One of the highlights of the summer is always the county fair, at least it is in my world,” said Hughes. “July 18-21 out at the 4-H Park here in Pontiac the fair has a ton of cool activities. All the livestock shows, they have the rodeo, and different things going on so be sure to check out their website or contact them for more details.”

Hughes also noted the Farm Bureau will be holding a fundraiser during the county fair. She said there will be various ways for people to support local kids involved in 4-H who have a passion for agriculture.

“We do a fundraiser, we do it every year, we’ll have a lot of different prizes. We have a very supportive community that donates different baskets and silent auction items and things like that,” Hughes explained. “Come on out, buy some tickets, support the kids, and you could win a really cool prize.”

Hughes said keeping agriculture involved in the county fair is a focal point of the event, which she said some county fairs have put on the backburner.
