The St. Louis Cardinals settle for a four-game split in San Diego after dropping the finale to the Padres 5-3.

 

The Normal CornBelters dropped the finale of their first series of the season, giving up three runs in the eighth inning in a 5-4 loss to Traverse City. The Belters embark on their first road trip Tuesday morning at Lake Erie.

 

Illinois State baseball picked up its first shutout of the season as Matt Walker and three relievers combined on a three-hitter against Valparaiso, 8-0, in the Redbirds’ home finale. Owen Miller hit for the cycle in the win.

 

Illinois Wesleyan’s softball team has won the NCAA Regional for the third year in a row. The Titans edged Transylvania 2-1 to move on to the Super Regional next weekend. 

 

Webb Simpson cruised to victory at The Players Championships in Florida shooting a final round 1-over 73 for a four-shot victory.

 

In the NBA Eastern Conference finals, Boston opened with a 108-83 win over Cleveland. The Western Conferece finals tipoff on Monday night as Houston hosts Golden State.

 

In the NHL, Washington goes up 2-0 over Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference finals with a 6-2 win.
