The Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce held Lunch and Learn Thursday, inviting the Workforce Board for Grundy, Livingston and Kankakee counties to talk about employment statistics for the county.

Executive Director LaDonna Russell explained that the board is a non profit organization that’s mission is to enhance the quality of the workforce for the county. She gave many important statistics for the county, including what lies ahead.

“Twenty-five percent of your workforce is going to retire in the next ten years. Who’s going to replace that work force? That’s going to be the mission of the board, working with local partners (the local school district, the career centers, the GLCEDC) to help ensure there’s a pipeline of individuals so that when people retire, employers will have the people they need to fill those positions,” Russell said.
