Sheriff’s Scholarship available

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association recently announced it will be awarding more than 100 scholarships throughout the state of Illinois.

Livingston County Sheriff Tony Childress will be awarding one scholarship in the amount of $500 to a student wishing to pursue higher education during the 2017-2018 academic year.

There will be no restriction on any applicant by reason of race, age, creed, color, sex or national origin. Applicants must be permanent Illinois residents, and scholarships must be utilized at institutions of higher learning within the State of Illinois. Applicants must also be enrolled as a full-time student during the 2017-2018 school year.

Applications are available at the sheriff’s office at 844 W. Lincoln Street in Pontiac or online at ilsheriff.org. Completed applications must be returned to the office before March 15.
