The Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a community flu shot day with Pontiac Walmart Saturday at the Chamber office, located at 210 n. Plum Street.

Chamber Executive Director Mindi Terrell explains why getting your flu shot is important.

“Flu season is rapidly coming up. It’s important every year to get your flu shot, because every year, flu can be a very serious disease. It can lead to hospitalization and can even lead to death. The more people in the community that get flu shots, the less risk the community is at spreading the flu around,” Terrell said.

With other immunizations available that day, like pneumonia, shingles, chicken pox and hepatitis A and B, people interested in getting those shots are asked to call the Chamber at 844-5131 to make reservations.
